Symbol Meditation

You can experiment with using a symbol as your meditation object through either symbol gazing or visualization.

• Select a spiritual symbol that has meaning to you, and whose qualities or significance you would like to cultivate more of within your own consciousness.

• To meditate on this symbol, you can either gaze at an image of it with relaxed vision or close your eyes and visualize the symbol before you in your mind’s eye.

• Focus on the particular attributes of the symbol at first, but relax into a more abstract connection as your focus increases. Allow the symbol to settle into all layers of your psyche. Allow yourself to absorb it on a nonconceptual level.
